Our Sasaab community projects are based in the Ngutuk Ongiron Group Ranch (NOGR) with the Westgate Community Conservancy (WGCC) as its development arm. Conservation fees contribute to many projects that we have initiated.
Education within the Group Ranch is divided into Pre-school (3-6 years) and Primary school, with a total of eight pre-school and two primary schools.
Better nutrition has a direct link to higher concentration levels in school children and parents are much more likely to send their children to school if they know there will be a meal provided. $10.00 will feed one child a nutritious meal for every day of the school term.
Within the Samburu culture, education has become more available to young girls and women, and as a result, subtle changes are starting to occur and the Samburu women are coming together to form groups to improve their livelihoods.
Sasaab is working with the WGCC and the community healthcare workers to plan and help implement necessary community health programs. We also currently support two local clinics and are trying to raise funds to provide more equipment.
